Welcome, fellow Artists!
My name is Laura.
I am a teacher of 30+ years who has taught and trained people in the Fine Arts from ages 2 years old through 82 years old.
I am an allumna of Massachusetts College of Art and Design as well as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
My focus of college study was water based fine art painting but I also have a passion for sculpture and other forms of visual arts, including origami.
I have studied and taught various art forms.
In 1995, at the age of 16, I created and co-ran two successful school vacation Arts camps for my local Community Education Program which are still running!
Bringing creative exploration to people's lives is a passion and a goal for me.
In Sacramento, I am a 10+ year volunteer with the Crocker Art Museum and a volunteer and showing artist with the former Kennedy Gallery.
As a teacher, I strive to free the true artistic genius, deep in all of us.
True artists who become celebrated in museums, galleries and history never are and never were merely traditional. They all fearlessly express their individual vision. They also follow tricks of the trade which many people may not be aware of.
If you are open to freeing yourself from formal expectations or "perfectionism" that can sidetrack true artistry, I am the teacher for you.
If you want to practice applicable techniques such as camera obscura, these formal techniques are also within my training and knowledge.
I embrace community engagement so I love teaching in public spaces such as local parks and libraries.
Bring your fun, free spirit and positive expectations!
I know you will share amazing creativity with everyone, no matter what your experience or style.
" Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
